Berge Tackle Scent Dispenser

The Berge Tackle Scent Dispenser is designed to go before your lure on your set-up to attract fish on three different levels – scent, sight and sound.

Regular: 6 inches Long x 2.5 inches Round
Mini: 3 inches Long x 1.25 inches Round

The Berge Tackle Scent Dispenser’s flow-through chamber is customizable to allow you to control the rate of scent dispersal. It is available in multiple colors to simulate a fish’s natural prey and as the dispenser moves through the water it’s customizable spin creates vibration and a clicking sound that fish can hear.

Recommended Set-ups

You can include the Berge Scent Dispenser in your favorite setups with ease, or you can use one of our two favorite rigs outlined below.

Trolling Set-up with Lead

Your liquid or oil scents should last approx. 30 minutes and solids last for hours with this set-up.

1. Tie end of main line to a triple swivel.
2. Tie a 24-36 inch line to the other end of swivel.
3. Tie a snap swivel on the end of line and snap on the Berge Tackle Scent Dispenser.
4. Tie another snap swivel on opposite end of the scent dispenser and attach an 18-24 inch leader line.
5. At the other end of your leader line attach hook, lure, herring, quick fish or our Mini Scent Dispenser modified to be a lure (see the customizations below).
6. Run a 24-36 inch weight line from the triple swivel down to a 6-18 ounce weight depending on the water conditions.

Note: If you get take downs without hooking up try shortening your leader line

Downrigger Set-up

Just hook the scent dispenser right on to your ball. Then run your release off the end of the dispenser. This has proven to be a favorite set-up for trollers.

Bottom Fish (Sturgeon and Halibut) Set-up

Bottom Fish feed by scent. The Berge Tackle Large Scent Dispenser is perfect for large fish and helps fish find your bait.

Install the Berge Tackle Scent Dispenser inline above your slip weight. This allows it to stay above the bottom and dispense a more effective herring or bait scent trail.

Inline Driver

1. Tie main line to the front of your driver.
2. Attach snap swivels on each end of a 24-48 inch line.
3. Snap one end to diver and one to Scent Dispenser.
4. Attach another snap swivel on the end of the Scent Dispenser.
5. Create leader line 18 to 24 inches long and attach lure or herring. If running herring create leader 36 inches or more.

Note: If you get take downs without hooking up try shortening your leader line

Plunkers (For Bank Fishing)

Plunkers are the perfect addition to fresh water fishing from a river bank. Just ‘plunk’ it in the water, sit, and wait. Let the Berge Tackle plunker do all the work to attract fish to your bait. Place the plunker first inline on your set-up with 2-3 feet of line behind, then attach your lure. Remember to add a 4-10oz weight to keep everything from tangling up. Our favorite lure to use with the plunker is a spin-glow, but use whatever you prefer. Plunkers only need moving current to do their job. Recommended for Trout, Salmon, Steelhead, or anything freshwater related.

Spreader Bar (For Long-Line Trolling)

Spreaders are the perfect addition to your deeper water trolling needs, use in either salt or fresh water – oceans, bays, deep rivers, or lakes. The Berge Tackle spreader is a perfect addition to your already master crafter, long line set-up. Spreaders are a great alternative to a daisy chain. Set-up the Berge Tackle Scent Dispenser with spreader bar then add your favorite flasher or dodger, and then your bait to catch trout, salmon, steelhead, or anything large.

Daisy Chain (For Downrigger Trolling)

Use the 2, 3, or 4-chain daisy chain with your downrigger to add more scent to the water to attract fish while trolling. Use your regular bait set-up as always. Best for bays, salt-water fishing and fresh-water lakes and deeper/larger rivers.  Use it whenever you run a downrigger to attract fish to your lure.

Customizations

The following changes can be made to customize your scent dispenser.

Spin Speed

To slow spin speed – cut fins at any of the three mark lines. This is especially useful when trolling. For those who want to represent an injured bait fish cut one fin to create an asymmetrical (Egg Roll) spin that will attract predator fish.

Double Your Scent Dispersal

Use a pointed tool to enlarge one or both chamber holes to increase scent dispersal. We suggest leaving one at the standard size for liquids or oils and increasing the other to 1/8″ round if you are using solids.

Thicker Liquids & Gels

For thicker liquids and gels you may want to increase the flow into your Scent Dispenser by enlarging the hole to 1/8″ inside the lids ONLY, this will allow for more flow, resulting in a faster rate of scent delivery.

No Mess Gel

Try using a 16mm Syringe or an Injector for gels.  This is an effective way to fill your Scent Dispenser’s without removing the lids. All you have to-do is make the lid hole’s a little larger than your Syringe or Injector. As you squeeze the gel in you push the excess water out.  This is quick and easy with NO MESS. Your gel will last about 45 mins. NOTE: When using this technique, check your injector or syringe for plastic that may be left in the needle after punching out the lid holes.

Extra Thick Gel or Paste

Rather than filling the dispenser to the top with your extra thick, tar-like gels, we recommend spreading the gel around the outside of the inner chamber leaving the hole free for water to penetrate.

Solids & Tablets

When using solids or tablets we suggest opening the chambers and lid holes to there maximum size.

Reflector Tape

Add reflector tape for added visibility. We recommend a clear holographic one. Click here to get a template for the wings.
